Deeply buried in the more or less sensible information that can be found on the Mathworks web site, you can find that you must have csh installed in order to run "engine programs", i.e. programs that use the C interface to the matlab engine. So in order to use the Gomatlab library with matlab, you must have csh (the c-shell).
